Choose the Sanctity of Human Life
There is a life and death battle raging between good and evil, truth and lies, God’s way of life and the devil’s way of death. Which side are you on? Will you choose life or the way of death? This post will examine what the Bible says about the sanctity of human life, and the ages long struggle between those who choose life and those who choose sin and death.

Bible-believing Christians believe all human life is sacred to God because we are all created in His image (Genesis 1:26-27; 9:6). This is why we “Choose Life” and believe abortion is murder, which is sin (Exodus 20:13).
However, most people today have been trained to accept the devil’s deception of evolution. They trust that the gods of “time and chance” and “death and struggle” somehow created the complex life in our world. They believe people are merely highly evolved animals in no way subject to the moral laws of a Creator God. They therefore feel justified in disposing of unborn babies as any other unwanted trash.
This article will provide a Bible study of why all human life is precious in God’s sight, and we should therefore “choose life.” It will show that, sadly, the murder of innocent babies is nothing new. And provide a warning that the shedding their innocent blood is bringing God’s wrathful judgment upon the world.
Why Human Life is Sacred
The Bible informs us that God created people in His image (Genesis 1:26-27). Adam and Eve rebelled against God’s one command by eating the forbidden fruit and brought about the curse on the earth, which resulted in toil, suffering, and death (Genesis 3).
People have been sinful by nature ever since, but we are still special in God’s eyes. Sin has corrupted it, but we still bear the image of God within us. We are still more than animals, and God considers the taking of human life to be an attack on His image.
Why Choose Life
Adam and Eve’s first child, Cain, killed his righteous brother Abel, but murder did not stop there. People became increasingly wicked (Genesis 6:5) and the earth was filled with violence (Genesis 6: 11, 13). In response to the increasing corruption and violence, God judged the earth with a global flood in the days of Noah (Genesis 6-9).
Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man.Genesis 9:6
Immediately after the flood, God instituted capital punishment for killing people. God told Noah, “surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man. Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made He man” (Genesis 9:6).
Murder became a capital crime, regardless of the age (or stage of development) of the person whose life was taken. People and nations may change the laws of man, but God’s law, like the law giver Himself (Malachi 3:6a), never changes. God still hates the killing of people.
The shedding of innocent human blood defiles the land. And . . . brings God’s judgement
Numbers 35:33 says that the shedding of innocent human blood defiles the land, “and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.” The failure to cleanse the land by executing those who murder others brings God’s judgment upon the land.
Murdering Innocent Babies is Not New
Psalm 106:35-43 recounts some of Israel’s sins that brought God’s wrathful judgment upon them.
(they) “were mingled among the heathen, and learned their works. And they served their idols: which were a snare unto them. Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions.
Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against His people, insomuch that He abhorred His own inheritance. And He gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them. Their enemies also oppressed them, and they were brought into subjection under their hand. Many times did He deliver them; but they provoked Him with their counsel, and were brought low for their iniquity.”Psalm 106:35-43
Abortion may not have existed in Bible times, but people still murdered babies, sacrificing their infant children to demonic idols. This earned God’s wrath and judgment then. We can be sure that abortion is doing the same today.
God’s wrath is building / Judgment is coming
Every year, America and the other nations of the world sacrifice millions of innocent unborn babies to the sin idols of sexual immorality, selfishness, and irresponsibility. The mass murder of these innocents is defiling our land and the entire earth with their blood.
Meanwhile, the world is obsessed with “climate change.” Even though the earth’s climate has been changing throughout history, people now believe our current climate is due to carbon dioxide emissions and other physical pollution caused by humans.
Reducing our “carbon footprint” will not save us from God’s wrath
People want to save their “mother earth” by reducing these physical pollutants, but give no thought to the spiritual pollution caused by millions of abortions all over the world every year. “Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools” (Romans 1:22).
God’s wrath is building; judgment is coming. Reducing our “carbon footprint” will not save us from God’s wrath. It is time to repent of our disregard for human life through the practice of abortion. It is time to change our hearts and laws. It is time to repent and plead for God’s mercy.
It is time to heed the words of Moses in Deuteronomy 30:19, and “Choose Life.”
