Opening the Eyes of Understanding

I have often been frustrated when people could not understand what I was saying.  I might get mad, insult them, or even call them stupid.  Now I see, the problem was with me.

Now I see, the problem was with me.

We would not get mad at someone who lost their physical eyesight.  We would not think them stupid or call them names just because they could not see.  Instead we would feel sorry for them.  We would try to help them to get around without the use of their eyes.

If someone cannot see something physical we want to show them, we do everything we can to make it stand out.  We describe it.  We point at it.  We may shine a light on it.  In a picture, we might highlight it or draw a circle around it.  On a computer, we might zoom in on it.  We do everything in our power to help them see it.

It is our job to enable others to understand what we say.  We need to express things simply and draw word pictures that clearly show what we want them to see.  We need to love others enough to help open the eyes of their understanding.

We need to love others enough to help open the eyes of their understanding.

I should not be mean or ridicule someone just because they cannot see, what is clear to me.  We need to love others enough to keep on trying.  We need to try new ways of bringing the truth into focus.  We can try showing it from different angles with the goal of bringing it into perspective, and zoom in on it until they see it.

When it comes to helping the spiritually blind to see Bible truth, we need to enlist the aid of the Holy Spirit through prayer.  The devil has blinded the hearts and minds of the lost.  Only God can open their spiritual eyes to see.

We need to enlist the aid of the Holy Spirit through prayer
