Many people like to go to Olive Garden to get a “Tour of Italy.” While delicious, that meal is quickly consumed and life moves on. In June of 2017, I was blessed to go on a Bible study tour of Israel with a wonderful group of Bible believing Christians. The trip lasted two weeks, and its impact will be with me the rest of my life.
The 40 of us that joined the tour are from diverse locations and backgrounds, but we all love our Lord Jesus Christ and His Word the Bible. Our group included pastors and teachers, missionaries and Bible translators, students, creationists, linguists, and more. Though strangers on earth, we are related in heaven, and we soon became friends as we toured the Promised Land together.
On June 3 – 14, 2017, I went on a Bible Study tour of Israel with “Biblical Byways.” The tour was led by Les and Kathy Bruce, retired Wycliffe Bible Translators who now lead Bible study tours.
While Les and Kathy led the tour, they employed the services of SAR-EL Tours, a Christian travel agency operating out of Jerusalem. SAR-EL not only arranged the logistics of the tour, including our bus and driver, they also provided an excellent certified Israeli tour guide. Our tour guide was Sonia Waters, a Messianic Jew who loves her country, Israel.
This is the first of a series of posts I will be making based on my tour of Israel. My next post will include my first impressions of Israel, the day I arrived in Tel Aviv, before I joined my tour group.
